Ava's School Dance Recital

Ava's had her schooldance recital last week and it was so cute! They did Pinocchio-The theater part of it--fairies, pinocchio, pinocchia, Geppetto-the students were asked to choose which character they wanted to be.

Then they did a costume change and showcased what they've learned in tap, jazz and ballet class. Jazz was my favorite b/c it's so Ava and she showed us her little dancing/hip action.

This was her first dance-in-front-of-people-on-a-stage recital and she did GREAT!

A Beautiful Weekend

Saturday was just beautiful weather--70's--and we wanted to absorb as much of this weather as we could before the cold front comes through. We had an adventure at the park, hiking the trails. Later that afternoon we took a walk to the track at the middle school and got lots of "extrasize".

Griff sat in the stroller like a big boy, for the first time. And Ava ran and ran...and ran and ran!

..::SnOw::..Day!

A few weeks ago we got a good 3-4 inches of snow and fun times were had by all! We threw snowballs, made snow angels and even built a life-size snowman--his name was "Up", in case you were wondering--and yes, he has a banana nose and orange slices for eyes. We make do!

I feel the Earth move under my feet

Aves and Carole King must be kindred spirits if you listen to her latest deep thoughts while riding in the car....

Ava: "I can feel the Earth move, momma."

Me: Really? Wow!

Ava: "Yeah. Really I can."

Me: I would have thought it's just the feeling of us riding in the car.

Ava: "No, no. I feel the bumpity-bumps of the car, but I can feel the Earth move. Why am I the only one who can feel it?"

Me: I don't know. I sure can't feel it, but that would be cool.

Ava: "Yeah, I see the clouds moving too so I know the Earth is moving."

A Princess Party

Last weekend when we went to a princess birthday party of a classmate's, everyone was shocked when Cinderella herself walked through the door. All the little girls were in awe and just mesmerized. Ava "couldn't believe Cinderella came all the way from Disney World to be at the party."

What an excellent day!

Happy Belated Birthday to Moi!

There is no one else that I would rather be with on my 32nd birthday!

New dentist

And Ava loves their office. They doted and loved on her and she just ate it up. Dr. CeCe, though I should have gotten a picture of her and Ava, was so smitten. It helped that the hygienist stopped what she was doing to put in a princess movie on for her, on the ceiling television.

She got an "A" too for her brushing. Although it was brought up, as it was with Dr. Jenny in Austin, Ava 's teeth are super close together
And might be crammed in there when her adult teeth come in. Braces maybe? We shall see.

My little cowgirl

Just one of the many costumes Ava wore while we were homebound and sick. She has decided this is what she wants to be for Halloween this year. Yeehaw!

Happy EIGHT months Griffin!

Ssssssssssttttttttttttooooooooooooooooopppppppppppppppppp! Time is just a tick-tick-tickin' away. I am so grateful for this little bundle of chubbin' lovin' that we've got, but he is getting so big, so fast.

This past month has been a HUGE month for Griffin.

Stats:
19 lbs. 11 oz.

Health and Vax:
Prevnar (2)
DTap (2)
HIB (1)

-Griff had his first ear infection this past month. Per our pediatrician rec, we were giving him garlic drops and colloidal silver, but within a few days it was evident that we needed to try something else. He was just so grumpy. We did 10 days of antibiotics (while I take probiotics while breastfeeding) and I'm not so sure he is all better, as he still tugs at his ear.

Milestones:
-Griffin has SIX teeth right now! 2 bottom and 2 top have fully emerged. 2 more tops have broken through as of last week. He is about to cut more, I just know it! Fast and furious.

-Pulling up and almost cruising, will switch weight on his hands and arms, but not his legs and feet yet.

-Waving. He started this on Christmas day and will usually do it when we say "hi" and "bye".

-Dancing. Um, Hello?! Could there be anything cuter?! The moment he hears a beat, be it tapping, drumming, singing, instrumental....he starts moving his body back and forth.

-*Almost* clapping. He'll clasp his hands together when he sees us do it or when we sing "If You're Happy and You Know It" or "Patty Cake". He especially loves when Ava sings these to him.

Eating:
-Still exclusively breastfeeding, morning, noon and night--oh and STILL middle of the night (though I cut him off from midnight to 5:00am)

-Is really enjoying solid purees still. We've introduced puffs to work on his pincher grasp, but he's not sold on those (Ava is however). He loves, loves, loves fruits. His favorite is a puree I found in my Parents magazine: steamed apple and walnuts with a little bit of cinnamon...YUM! He does lunge for the spoon with that. He loves fresh fruit in his mesh feeder, something that I had forgotten about. It's a lifesaver! He'll sit in the high chair and gnaw and teeth on watermelon, apple, blueberries, banana, you name it. LOVE the mesh feeder.

-I've started trying to make the foods and purees a tad bit chunkier to hopefully avoid any texture issues. He seems to do ok with them, though he does take notice.

Eight loves for Eight months:
I love hearing him click. He likes when we play 'click' back and forth.

I love how he smiles at EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Not just a smile, a grin that lights up the room, as others often tell me.

I love his eyes of blue. They seem to be getting bluer by the day and they just melt me.

I love when he crawls over to me or daddy and pulls at our pants leg to ask up.

I love how go-with-the-flow he is. He is good company for running errands and shopping.

I love how excited he gets to pick sissy up from school. He totally knows what we are doing and just kicks when I get him out of the car seat.

I love when I say, "You go bouncy, bouncy?" when he's in the johnny jumper or jumparoo and he immediately jumps up and down. It's just so neat to see him understand and respond.

I love watching he and Ava play together in his crib. He has a twinkle in his eye for his big sister and she ADORES him and they laugh and laugh together. It's so sweet.

One more--I love that he still lets me rock him, cradle hold and all. mmmmmelt!
